1 cup shortening
2 egg yolks
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 egg white beaten with 1 teaspoon water
Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, egg yolks, brown sugar and vanilla. Add flour and mix thoroughly. Roll into 1" balls. Dip in slightly beaten egg white and roll in chopped nuts or sugar. Bake at 375º for 5 minutes. Take out of oven and press thumb in center of each cookie. Return to oven and bake 7 minutes longer. Cool and fill thumbprint with tinted frosting.
