¾ c. butter
Granulated sugar
1 t grated orange rind
1 egg
2 c. sifted flour
¼ t salt
1 egg white
Red cinnamon candies (red hots)
Green sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, add ½ c. sugar, orange rind and egg; beat until light. Add flour and salt. Chill for several hours or until firm enough to roll. Roll to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with floured 2 inch doughnut cutter (or use a plain 2 inch cutter and then a smaller cutter to remove a circle from the center) and place on baking sheet. Beat egg white until foamy, add 2 T sugar gradually and beat until stiff. Brush cookies with the meringue mixture. Decorate with green sugar and candies to look like wreaths. Bake at 350 for 10-13 min, checking periodically to make sure the meringue isn’t browning too much and the candies are not melting. If this happens, lower the over temp.
