2 Cups Sugar
1 Cup Shortening
4 Eggs
2 Tsp. Vanilla
2 Tsp. Butter Flavor
1 Cup Buttermilk
3 Cups Flour
1/2 Tsp. Soda
1 Tsp. Salt
1 Package German Sweet Chocolate (Softened)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar, shortening, eggs, flavors and buttermilk. Sift together flour, soda, salt and add to mixture. Mix well. Add chocolate (softened) and blend well together. Cook in 9" stem pan, that has been greased and dusted with flour, about 1-1/2 hours at 300 degrees. Place cake under a tight fitting cake cover while hot and leave covered until cool.

This is another one of my mother's recipes that my family enjoys. We like to cut a piece of cake and put a little butter over it and warm in microwave. I also bake small cakes during the holidays and give as gifts. Everyone enjoys this cake.
