1 C butter or margarine soft, 4 eggs, 1/2 t baking power, 1/4 t salt, 1 t ground cloves, 1 C buttermilk, 1 t vanilla, 3 C sugar, 3 C all-purpose flour, 1/2 t baking soda, 2 t cinnamon, 1/2 t ground nutmeg and 1 C chopped walnuts.

Cream butter, sugar beating til light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating after each addition. Combine flour, baking power, soda, salt and spices. Add buttermilk to creamed mixture alternately with flour mixture. Stir in walnuts and vanilla. Pour into greased and floured 10" tube pan. Bake @ 350 for 1 1/4 hours. Cool in pan for 10 to 15 min.
