6 egg whites
3/4 tsp cream of tartar
2 C sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 C soda cracker crumbs
3/4 C walnuts

Directions:
Beat egg whites till frothy not stiff. Add cream of tartar and sugar gradually. Beat till eggs form peaks. Fold in crackers, nuts and vanilla. Put in 10" x 13" pan. Bake 350 for 30 minutes.
TOPPING: 1 carton Cool Whip
1 C cherry pie filling. Spread whip evenly on top of cooled torte, then spread pie filling. Let stand 10 hours or more in refrigerator.
