2 sticks of butter (or 1 c. shortening)
1 c. sugar
1 c. pumpkin
1 egg
1 t. baking soda
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. salt
1 c. raisins (optional) or chopped pecans (optional)

Frosting:

3 T. butter
4 t. milk
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. powdered sugar
3/4 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375. Cream butter, sugar and pumpkin; add egg and mix well. Add dry ingredients. Stir in raisins if desired. Drop from large teaspoon and bake for 10-12 minutes.

Frosting:
Melt butter and then add milk and brown sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Cool, then add powdered sugar and vanilla. Spread on warm cookies.
