1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup lard
1/4 cup butter
1 egg,beaten
1 cup sorghum molasses
2 1/2 cup sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 salt
1 cup hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar, lard and butter together until light and smooth; add egg and molasses. Beat until fluffy. Sift flour,soda, cinnamon,ginger, cloves and salt together. Add dry ingredients to molasses mixture; add hot water, beating until smooth. Batter will be soft. Pour into greased shallow pan. Bake in 350 oven for 40-45 minutes or until gingerbread test done.
