1 C. Sugar
1 1/2 C. shortening
3/4 C. buttermilk
1 egg
approx. 5 cups flour
2 teaspoons soda in 1 tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

apples 1 quart dried apples
4 tablespoons butter (sweeten to taste)

Mix together and divide into 6 balls press each ball into an 8 in. pan and bake at 350 degrees in an oven for 15 min.
Part 2
spread a thin paste between layers leaving a plain top. Let stand 12 hours.
