4 1/2 C flour
1 tbs sugar
2 tsp salt
1 3/4 vegetable shortening
1/2 C. water
1 tbs white or cider vinegar
1 large egg

Directions:
Directions:
Mix the flour,sugar and salt in large bowl. Add shortening and mix with fork until ingredients are crumbly. In small bowl mix water, vinegar and egg. Pour the liquid into flour mixture stirring with fork until all ingredients are moistened. Divide dough into five portions and shape into flat round patty. Wrap with plastic wrap and chill for at least 1/2 hour before rolling out on lightly floured board. Dough can be left in refrigerator up to 3 days or it can be frozen until ready to use.
