2 ½ cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 cups apples, peeled and sliced
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup apple sauce

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350⁰. Coat Bundt or loaf pan (you can make two loaves, but they won’t be as high) with butter and dust with flour. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Prepare apples. In a mixer, mix sugar and eggs; add vanilla and apple sauce. Add flour mixture. Fold in apples. Pour into prepared pan(s). Bake about one hour, until golden.

This is an updated version of a cake my husband’s Bubbie, Rose Liner, used to make. I never tasted her version, but when her daughter, Heath’s Aunt Frieda Lampert (née Liner), brought it to my house once, I had to have the recipe. Since the original recipe called for a lot of oil, I changed it, using applesauce instead. This is a family favorite!
