Directions:
Directions:
Cook rice - do not cook completely.
Bring pot of water to a boil. You can add 2 tbsp. vinegar to the water to reduce the cabbage smell.
Boil cored head of cabbage for approx. 20 minutes. While boiling, separate the outer leaves from the head to ensure the cabbage cooks all the way through.
Remove cabbage from boiling water and let cool. Separate leaves when cabbage is cool to the touch.
Meat mixture:
Saute onions in oil making sure not to brown them.
In a separate bowl mix together the ground beef and pork, rice, onions, egg. Salt and pepper to taste. Hands work best for mixing this.
Take a cabbage leaf and fill with some meat mixture according to the size of the leaf.
Roll-up the leaf. If needed, use a toothpick to hold the cabbage roll closed.
Mix 2 cans tomato soup with a little bit of water.
Place halupki in oven-proof pot/casserole and pour the tomato soup over all the halupki and cover.
Bake at 350º for 1.5 hours
