1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. applesauce
2 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
4 1/2 - 5 c. flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
2 c. chocolate chips
Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugars. Add eggs, vanilla and applesauce, and cream together. Mix all of the dry ingredients and sift into the wet mixture. Mix until well blended. Add the chocolate chips and fold into the batter.
For drop cookies: Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 375º for 11 minutes. For Bar cookies: Divide batter between 2 jelly roll pans and bake at 350º for 15 minutes.
