2 ¾ cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 ½ teaspoons ginger
1/3 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or margarine
1 ¼ cup brown sugar
1 well beaten egg

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together. Cream butter & sugar. Add beaten egg and add dry ingredients. Chill overnight. Make balls size of walnuts and press down with a fork or make thumb print and fill with jam. Bake on greased cookie sheet 10-12 minutes at 350.
