1 cup soft margarine or butter
3/4 cup honey
1 Tsp vanilla
1 3/8 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 Tsp salt
1 Tsp baking soda in 1/3 cup (4 Tbsp) boiling water
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325ºF

Beat margarine or butter, honey and vanilla, until light and fluffy. Add flour and salt and mix well.
Dissolve soda in boiling water and blend into mixture.
Stir in rolled oats, nuts, and chips.
Drop from teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with fork dipped into cold water.

Bake for about 10 minutes.
They burn easily so watch carefully. Adjust heat and cook time accordingly.
Makes 4 dozen.
