3/4 C. milk, 1/4 C. sugar; 1/2 stick oleo/butter, 1 t. salt; 1/4 C. warm water;, 1 cake yeast; 1 egg,beaten; 3 1/4 C. sifted flour.

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk, stir in sugar, salt and oleo. Cool; measure water and add yeast. Add milk, egg and half the flour to make soft dough. Knead 10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover and let rise 1 hour. Punch down and roll out. Cut and place on greased tin. Let rise 1 hour, Fry for 2 or 3 minutes, drain and glaze with confectioner's sugar, water and vanilla.

I've used this recipe since 1965/66. my classmates and I made what seemed like "half a million"of these as a fund raiser for my as Big Sandy School's First homecoming Queen.
