6 medium sweet potatoes
1/2 C. brown sugar
1-1/2 C. sliced apples
4 T. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. mace

Directions:
Directions:
Boil sweet potatoes until tender. Slice in 1/4" pieces. Butter a baking dish and put a layer of potatoes on bottom, then a layer of apples. Sprinkle with sugar, salt and made and dot with butter.
Repeat until dish is filled, having the top layer of apples.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 50 minutes.

Marian developed this recipe as an alternative to the stickey sweet sweet potatoes usually served at holidays. Her favorite way to serve sweet potatoes was to bake them like baked potatoes and serve plain or with a little butter.
