4 cups flour
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/4 cup vegetable shortening (Do not use oil, butter or lard or margarine)
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon white or cider vinegar
1 large egg

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, stir together with fork the flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in shortening till crumbly. In small bowl mix egg. water and vinegar. Add to flour mixture and stir until all ingredients are moist. Divide dough into 5 portions and wrap in wax paper and chill at least 1/2 hour. Dough can be left in refrigerator for 3 days. Makes 5 pie shells. Bake at 450º for 12 to 15 minutes.
