2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 c. (1/2 cube) butter
1 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
2 c. flour
1/2 c. finely chopped nuts, if desired
1 tsp. vanilla
60 Hershey's kisses (milk or white chocolate and milk-striped variety), unwrapped
2 oz. white chocolate baking bar
1 tsp. shortening or oil

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium saucepan combine chocolate chips and butter. Cook and stir over very low heat until melted and smooth. Add sweetened condensed milk. Mix well. In a medium bowl combine the flour, nuts, vanilla, and the chocolate mixture. Mix well. Shape 1 T. of dough around each Hershey's kiss candy, covering completely. Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes. Cookies will be soft and shiny, but will become firm as they cool (do not overbake!). Remove cookies from cookie sheets and let cool. Combine the white baking chocolate and shortening in a saucepan and heat until melted. Drizzle over cookies. Let cool to harden.
