2 sticks butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour
1 cup walnuts, chopped finely, (optional)
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate kisses
1 cup powdered sugar, more if necessary

Directions:

Pre-heat 375, bake 12 minutes

With mixer, cream butter and sugar well.
Add vanilla and gradually add flour and nuts.
Mix on low speed until well blended.

Chill at least 1 hour, mold 1 tbsp. of dough around a kiss. Be sure to cover completely. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake until cookies are set, but not brown.
Cool on wire rack, while still warm, roll in powdered sugar.

Hint: a pinch of salt added to granulated sugar in icing will prevent graining.

Hint: To prevent hardening and cracking of powdered frosting, add a pinch of baking powder.
