6 tart apples, pared and cored
1/2 c. sugar (I use light brown)
2 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
3/4 c. flour
pinch salt
6 T. butter
1/2 sugar (I use light brown mixed in)
1/2 chopped pecans

Mix apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon and cloves. Spoon into buttered 2 1/2 quart baking dish. Set aside. Sift together flour and salt. Work in butter until mixture is like bread crumbs. Stir in sugar and nuts. Sprinkle over apples. Bake for 45 minutes. Serve with cream (heavy cream whipped with a touch of sugar and vanilla).
