Cream: 3/4 cup butter, 3/4 cup powdered sugar

Add: 2 T. Carnation Evaporated Milk, 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp salt

Blend In: 2 cups flour. Cover and chill about one hour.

Roll out dough and cut into circles with cookie cutter. Bake on cookie sheets @ 325 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool completely (put in refrigerator or on the back porch if you live in Michigan!)

FILLING #1: Melt about 28 Kraft Caramels and 1/4th cup evaporated milk in pan, stirring until melted. Remove from heat and add 1/4 cup butter, 1 cup powdered sugar, and 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional).

FILLING #2: Melt 1 cup (6 oz.) Nestles chocolate chips with 1/3 cup evaporated milk, stirring constantly until melted. Remove from heat and add 2 T butter, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1/2 cup powdered sugar.

Layer a small dollop of caramel on to each cookie, then a dollop of the chocolate mixture. Place a pecan half on the top of each cookie. Store in refrigerator or freezer in ziploc bags on plates.

This won the Betty Crocker Bake Off contest in the 1960s and I have been making these at Christmas time for about 40 years. It's the only 'treat' I make every year for the holidays! They are awesome!!!
