Cucumbers, 4 inches long
salt
water
1/2 gallon cider vinegar
1/2 cup dry mustard
1 cup sugar
1 T. Salt

Directions:
Directions:
Select uniform cucumbers. Wash and cover with brine, using 1/2 cup salt to each gallon of water, covering cucumbers. Place plate on top and let stand all night, then drain well. Place in earthen jar.
Mix sugar, mustard, and salt together and add to vinegar. Pour mixture--cold--over cucumbers, making certain they are covered. Pickles can be eaten after 8 (eight) days and will keep in an open jar for one year
