1 qt milk, scalded
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
4 Tbsp cornstarch
pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Scald the milk. Mix together the beaten eggs and sugar. Slowly add to the scalded milk, cooking over medium heat and stirring. Mix cornstarch with enough water to make a paste; add a pinch of salt. Stir into the milk mixture and continue cooking, stirring constantly, until thickened. When chilled, add a teaspoon of vanilla.
