1-1/2 cups cornmeal
1/2 cup all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups buttermilk
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients and beat vigorously. Pour into greased square pan, 8 x 8 x 2. Bake in preheated 450 degree oven 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm. Makes 12 servings.
