1 c. softened butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. salad oil
1 c. powdered sugar
2 eggs
2 t. vanilla
4 c. flour plus 4 heaping T. flour
1 t. cream of tartar
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter with sugar and then add salad oil and powdered sugar. Next add and mix until creamy the 2 eggs (one at a time) and 2 t. vanilla.

In a separate bowl, sift the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.

Add all ingredients together and mix well. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Form small balls in the palm of your hand (3/4 t. = 1 ball). Place on cookie sheet and flatten with base of buttered glass dipped in sugar. For Christmas cookies, use red and green sugar here.

Bake in 350 oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

Important! Remove from pan onto foil sheets to cool. Do not stack until cool. Place in cookie tins with tight lids to keep crisp.
