1 1/2 to 2 lb Okra 1 cup Cornmeal 1 cup Shortening
First wash the okra.
Then cut the top & bottom off each okra, then slice the okra. Roll in cornmeal. Put Shortening in Skillet and melt. Then put your okra in. Constantly stirring so it does not burn. Cook until well browned and crisp.
