Directions:
Cream shortening, 1 c. white sugar and brown sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and peanut butter. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt and stir into creamed mixture. Add milk and mix. Shape into 1 to 1 1/2 inch balls with hands; dip in 1/2 c. sugar and arrange 2 to 3 inches apart on light greased baking sheet. Bake in moderate oven, 350 for 7 minutes. Remove from oven and quickly press a small chocolate candy star in the center of each cookie. Candy will fall off cookie when cooled unless it is pressed in before cookie is completely baked. Return to oven and bake 5 to 7 minutes longer. Remove from baking sheet to racks and cool. Makes about 10 dozen.
