4 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup corn starch
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon salt
10 cups water
3 Tablespoons Lemon juice
Apples, sliced for 7 quarts

Directions:
Directions:
In large sauce pan blend first four ingredients. Add salt. Stir in water, cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Add lemon juice. stir well.
Pack sliced apples in to jars within 1 inch of the top. Fill with hot syrup leaving 1/2 inch head space. Use spatula or knife to help distribute syrup. Adjust lids and process in hot water bath. Pints for 15 minutes and quarts for 20 minutes.
Prepare pastry, pour in one quart of pie filling and bake.
