What works for me is to make it a part of my consistent schedule. I always clean for a couple hours on Saturday after my morning call to mom, and before Pete wakes up. We also share chores. He does the laundry and dishes consistently, so I can push that out of my mind. I do most everything else, but ask him to help me if there is a lot to do in one particular day. Mostly, I just try to stay on top of it. I make a point to be sure I don't go to bed unless things are at least put away and the dishes are rinsed and stacked. Waking up to a messy house would put anyone in negative-Nancy mode right away, and who needs that?
