"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste
This recipe for Cheese Casserole, by Lisa Broadbent, is from The Logan 12th Ward Cookbook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
1 lb hamburger 2 tbsp minced dried onion 1 lb macaroni or other pasta 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can tomato soup 1/2 to 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper 1 c grated cheese
Boil pasta in salted water; drain. Cook hamburger and onion together; drain fat. Mix soups, Worcestershire, salt, pepper, and cheese. Add hamburger and pasta. Mix well. Eat as is or place in casserole dish, top with extra cheese, and bake uncovered 45 minutes. Freezes very well.
