2 C flour
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 C firm packed brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp ginger
1/2 C shortening
1 egg
1/2 C light molasses
1/3 C water
1 C oatmeal.

Mix and fit flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda and spices. Add shortening, egg, sugar, molasses and water. Beat until smooth about 2 min. Stir in oats. Drop by tablespoon onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 for 10 - 12 minutes
