1/2 C shortening (part butter)
1/2 C sugar
1 C flour
1 egg yolk
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp banilla
1 square unsweetened chocolate

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350. Mix first five ingredients add flour and salt. Make dough in 1" balls. Diup in slightly beaten egg whites and roll in chopped nuts or granulated white sugar. Grease cookie sheet Bake 10-12 min. Fill with tinted icing.
For butter scotch use 1/4 C bvrown sugar iinstead of white gran. sugar and omit chocolate square.
Double the recipe to make 4-6 dozen.
