1 No. 2 can (2 1/2 c.) tomatoes
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
WHITE SAUCE:
2 T. butter or margarine
2 T. flour
2 cups milk
Seasoning Salt (Optional to your taste)
Basil (Optional to your taste)
Pappy's Seasoning (Optional to your taste)
1/8 tsp. soda (to be added to tomatoe mixture just before mixing with white sauce)

Directions:
Combine tomatoes and seasonings. Heat to about same temperature as white sauce. Just before adding to white sauce stir in about 1/8 tsp. baking soda. This is a little secret I found to keep soup from curdling.
NOTE; I put the tomatoes in my blender and just the turn of the switch blend very lightly. (I like the little tomatoe chunks). It's just as good like juice or the strained tomatoes. Sometimes I use the whole tomatoes or even just canned tomatoe juice.. It is just to your liking.

Make white sauce of butter, flour, and milk. Just before serving, it is important to SLOWLY ADD HOT TOMATOES TO THE WHITE SAUCE, STIRRING CONSTANTLY. (This keeps it from curdling).
