Soft Oatmeal Raisin Cookies Recipe

1 c raisins
1 1/2 c water
1 c sugar
1 c shortening
2 c flour
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
2 c oatmeal

Simmer raisins and water until only one tablespoon of the water is left. Add sugar and shortening. Stir until melted. Add flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, salt and baking soda. Mix well and then add eggs and oatmeal. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
