Directions:Mix dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk. Mix quickly to make a soft dough. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead a few times to make a soft dough. Don't overknead or the biscuits will e hard and dry. Roll out to a 6X6 inch square. Place onto ungreased baking sheet. With a knife, cut dough into 12 even portions. Do not separate. Bake at 400º until golden about 15 minutes. Serve piping hot with butter, jam and/or honey. Note - I like to increase my buttermilk to 1 cup and drop by large spoonfuls onto my greased baking sheet. It just cuts down on the time and mess. |
