Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 pkg dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/4 tsp ginger
1 T sugar
3 T sugar
1 (13oz) can evaporated milk, warmed to lukewarm
1 tsp salt
2 T oil
4 to 4 1/2 C flour

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Add warm water to dry yeast, ginger and 1 T of the sugar. Soak until bubbly for 15 min. Add rest of sugar, milk, salt and oil to the yeast mixture. Beat with a mixer. Beat in flour a cup at a time, beating well after each addition. The last cup will probably have to be added with a heavy spoon. Batter should be stiff but will be too sticky to knead. Grease two 1 pound coffee cans. Fill half full. Let stand and rise until it reaches the top of the can. Bake 45 minutes. Let cool completely before taking out of cans.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Metal coffee cans are hard to find these days. If you do find them.....keep them and keep reusing them.
