2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
3 tsp. Baking soda
6 c. flour
1 c. shortening
3 eggs
1 tbsp. vanilla

1 c. buttermilk = 1 c. regular milk and 3 tbsp. vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix Sugar and shortening cream, add eggs. beat well. In seperate bowls mix milk and vanilla and other bowl the dry ingred. alternating these pour into sugar mixture til well mixed and than refrigerate till throughly chilled. Roll onto lightly floured board about 1/8" thick or more. use favorite cutters or just a glass and cut. Grease cookie sheet. Bake 325 to 350 about 10 minutes. DO NOT BROWN. Frost when cooled.
unused dough can set for several days.
