2 1/2c. flour
1tsp. baking powder
1tsp. salt
1/4c. soft butter
1/2c. soft shortening
1c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Sift four, baking powder and salt. Combine the shortening and butter in a bowl. Beat until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating all the time. Beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. stir in sifted dry ingredients. Blend well. Cover dough and chill and least and hour. Roll and arrange on a ungreased baking sheets. Brush rounds of dough with cream sprinkled with white or colored sugar, finely chopped nuts, shredded coconut, bits of candied fruit, colored sprinkles or a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 400 for 6-8 minutes.
