3c. sifted flour
1/4tsp. salt
2tsp. baking soda
1/2tsp. cloves
1tsp. cinnamon
1tsp. ginger
3/4c. shortening
3/4c. brown sugar
3/4c. molasses
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, salt, baking soda, cloves cinnamon and ginger together. Beat shortenings until creamy. Gradually add brown sugar, beating all the time. Add egg and molasses. Beat well. Add sifted ingredients and blend thoroughly. Cover dough with towel and chill. Shape into small balls rolled in sugar. Arrange 2 inches apart on ungreased sheets. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes.
