Ingredients:  
1 cup dates, chopped
1 1\4 cups boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 cups shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/4 cups plus 2 tbsp flour
3\4 tsp. baking powder
1 pkg. choco. chips (1cup)
1\2 cup white sugar
1\2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together dates, boiling water and baking soda, Let stand
Mix together shortening, sugar,eggs, flour and baking powder.
MIx together with date mixture and put into greased 9 x 13 pan.
Top with chips, sugar and nuts.
Bake at 350 for 30 min. or until done
