3 pints half and half
1 pt whole milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Mix together well and place in an ice cream freezer, churning until it stops. Remove from freezer container into bowl or other container and place in freezer to harden.

This is another recipe I have in mother's handwriting from Evelyn Carter but I could never figure out why we had a recipe from outside the family for something as simple as ice cream. You can find recipes similar to this one all over the place. It seems to me that the recipe mother used included canned Pet or Carnation milk....and if we didn't have any, she would use baby formula that daddy had at the office to give as samples. Did I make that up?
