1 3/4c. flour
1 1/2c. sugar
1/2c. butter
1/2c. cream
1/2tsp. salt
2 eggs
1tsp. vanilla
1tsp. baking soda dissolved in 3/4c. boiling water
2oz. grated chocolate
1 1/2tsp. cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add melted chocolate and vanilla. Beat until blended. Add milk and flour which has been sifted, measured and sifted again with cream of tartar and salt. Add the baking soda and the 3/4 cup of boiling water. Bake in a greased 8 inch pan in 375 oven for 35 minutes.
