3 c flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp cream of tartar
3/4 c butter or 1/2 c butter & 1/4 c shortening
1 1/4 c buttermilk or 1 c milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Cut in butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk all at once & stir until moistened. Turn dough on floured surface, roll dough until 3/4 inch thick, cut out biscuits. Bake on a ungreased baking sheet at 450 for 10-12 minutes. Remove from baking sheet & serve immediately.
