1/2 LB BUTTER,
1 C SUGAR
6 EGGS - WELL BEATEN
1 C FLOUR
1CUP FARINA
2 TSP BAKING POWDER
1/4 T CINNAMON
1 C FINELY CHOPPED WALNUTS

SYRUP:
2 C WATER, 1 C SUGAR, 4-5 WHOLE CLOVES, 1 STICK CINNAMON.

CRAM BUTTER WELL. GRADUALLY ADD SUGAR. ADD EGGS & CONTINUE BEATING UNTIL SMOOTH.
SLOWLY ADD FARINA.
SIFT TOGETHER DRY INGREDIENTS. GRADUALLY ADD TO BUTTER / EGG MIXTURE & STIR UNTIL SMOOTH.
FOLD IN NUTS.
PUT BATTER INTO GREASED 9 X 131 PAN. BAKE IN PREHEATED 350 OVEN APPOXIMATELY 30 MINUTE'S OR UNTIL CAKE SPRINGS BACK WHEN LIGHTLY TOUCHED.
WHILE CAKE IS BAKING MAKE SYRUP.

COMBINE INGREDIENTS BRING TO BOIL SIMMER 15 MINUTES.
POUR WARM SYRUP OVER WARM CAKE.
WHEN COOLED CUT INTO 24 SQUARES.
