2 c. fresh milk
1 c. canned milk
1 c. water
10 tbsps cornstarch
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp salt
4 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Filling for 2 8" pies:
Heat milk then add cornstarch, sugar and salt mixed together before adding.
Cook until thick.
Then add slightly beaten egg yolks.
Added cooked stuff to eggs, then add all together.
Cook about 10 min. Add vanilla.
Put meringue on top.

This is as Grandma wrote it out. This is surely a "basic" recipe to which she would have added bananas, or chocolate or cocoanut for other types of cream pies.
