2/3 c shortening
2-3/4 c sugar
2 eggs
1-1/2 tsp vanilla
3 c sifted flour
2-1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1-1/4 c milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and continue beating. Sift together dry ingredients. Add a little at a time alternating with the milk. Beat well after each addition. Beat 1 more minute. Bake in 2 greased and floured 9" cake pans or a 9x13" pan at 350 for 30-35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes and remove from pans. Cool before frosting.
