1/2 lb. butter or margarine
1/2 c. sugar
4 beaten eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. lemon or orange extract
1 (15 1/2 oz) can of cherry pie filling

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together, add eggs and mix well. Add flavorings and flour. Spread batter in a well greased jelly roll pan (15 1/2"X10 1/2" X 1"). Make sure of pan size, do not use a regular cookie pan. Mark batter into 24 squares, spoon cherry pie filling into the center of each square. During the baking the batter puffs up around the cherries. Bake around 45 minutes at 350 or until golden. Cut into squares, sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cool before cutting in squares and lifting from pan.
