2 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs, beaten
3 cup flour
1 scant tsp salt
2 tsp cream of tarter
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp soda
1 cup milk
2 tsp vanilla
2 to 3 cups more flour

Cream together sugar and shortening; add beaten eggs and mix. Sift dry ingredients (only 3 cups flour) and add to first mixture; beat together. Add milk and vanilla; mix. Add additional flour until batter is stiff enough to roll out and cut out cookies. Bake at 350 for 9 minutes. Makes 7 to 8 dozen.
