8 c. sliced peeled tart apples (about 8 medium)
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 c. quick oats
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
3 T. cold margarine
Whipped topping or ice cream, optional

In a large bowl, toss 1st. four ingredients. Pour into a greased 8"X8" dish. In bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over apple mixture. Bake at 350 for 55-60 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is golden. Serve warm with whipped topping or ice cream.
