Dough:
4 c of flour
3/4 t salt
1/4 t baking powder
1 egg
1 & 3/4 c warm water or milk
4 tbsp oil
Filling
3 c of mashed potatoes
1 large onion chopped & sautéed in butter
1/2 lb of cheddar cheese
salt & pepper to taste, 1 tsp of powdered garlic.
Serve with melted butter, sautéed onions, crumbled bacon or sour cream, sautéed garlic.

Filling: mix mashed potatoes, cheese ,onions, salt & pepper to taste 1 tsp powdered garlic.
Dough:
In a small bowl beat 1 egg & set aside.
Measure flour, salt, baking powder, put in a large bowl. Make a well, add the egg & warm water or milk. Knead to the right consistency. Let rest for 1 hour. Roll out on to a floured surface. Cut into circles with a cookie cutter or glass. Put a teaspoon of filling in the middle, fold over. Put a little water on the edge and crimp shut.Freeze for 20 minutes.(They cook better that way) Gently drop into boiling water and cook for 15 minutes or until they float to the top. A little oil can be added to the water to keep them from sticking together in the pot. May need to boil in batches. Serve with melted butter and other condiments listed below.

My mom would buy this store bought, and fry them in butter. Yummy! But nothing beats home made.
